2018 Report

Greetings from the Corozal Bay Sailing Club. A quick summary of the year 2018. We achieved some important successes. In the Optimist class our Adyaneiri Susan Teck won the national championship. In the Laser group we have several young sailors that will challenge Trent from the Ladyville club.

Among the girls Susi again in the Laser for Belize female. She is 14 so she can still sail in the Optimist but practices Laser as well.

In late November we traveled to Puerto Aventura in Mexico. Thank you Alfred for supplying car and fuel and other needs there. Currently we have 12 sailors, 9 of them sail Optimists with only 6 boats on hand. But we have good news. We will receive 3 boats on loan from the defunct Belize City club. They will need some parts to make them fully sailable.

This being the giving season we are looking for donations. The need will be for lifejackets 45 to 80 pounds, boat parts, sails, air bags, new lines, etc.

Donations may be left at Franks Meat Market or at our club P.O. Box 298.

Maybe someone would like to sponsor one of our four needy sailors.

For gift ideas our club’s T-shirts, caps, and cups are available at Franks as well.

Thank you for supporting our club.

Merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy New Year.

— Gerard Cordts, Commodore
